BIG GAME FISHING FROM THE SHORELINE.

Yeah! Don't be surprise. Our shoreline do have Monster!!!

Hi, my website is a land based fishing site and has been visited by anglers worldwide. This page was specially made to highlight some big game fishes caught by surfcasters. If you have caught any big fishes from the shores on any part of the world and would like to share it with all the surfanglers, please feel free to email me with a catch report and attach a photograph of the catch. I will try my best to put it up here.

This is a 9 feet long 400lbs bull shark caught at a jetty at florida key USA. My friend roger n his two friends take about three hour n twenty minutes to land this monster.

TRIP REPORTS.

Date: 18-19/11/2005  Night.    Time: 8pm - 5am.

Luckyly enough the weather at the east side was very good tonight. Went to bedok jetty at around 8pm to catch some squid. It was quite rare as compare with the passed week. But still manage to got enough for bait used. Around 11.30pm, recieved a call from one of my old buddy who wanted to join me for the night fishing. Since the squid was rare here, we decide to headed to another spot for the fish. I quickly packup n went to pick him up. We reach there around 12.30am. The place has just after a down pour. Everywhere is wet.We quickly setup our tackles n casted out. By now the tide is full n current flow has stop. When the tide turn down, the current was very slow. Bait that casted out was quite lasting now. At 1.15am, suddenly my buddy Zziplex rod the line gone loose. Quickly he strike n wind in a palm size fingermark snapper. Twenty minute later, crok..crok... crok..a handline he casted out earlier was rolling n line running out. ..but by the time he reach it, the line running has stop. He strike the line but the fish has gone. Ten minute later, his Zziplex rod got another line loose, he wind n strike, but missed hook again. Then half n hour later, zzzeeer...zzeer.. suddenly his reel alarm sound. Grab the rod n strike but nothing hook. . Seem that the very slow current flow has affected the hookup rate. Those fishes when feel the tension of the line just throw out the bait immediatly.

Date:26/27-11-2005        Time: 7.15pm to 0230am.

THe weather was nice after some down pour early evening. Pickup one of my old buddy n headed down. Reach there around 7.15pm with ron joining me a little later. Tide was just at the high. We setup all our tackles n casted out quickly. Bait was no lasting at the beginning stage, but was better after the tide turn down later. There is no much action except my buddy caught this palm size sweetlip. We fish until the tide turn up again around 2.30am but the fish just don't bite.

A non stop raining night with some action

Date: 02/03-12-2005      Time: 9.30pm to 3am.

Our plan was to fish the few hour before n after full tide. Pickup my two buddy "P" n "C" around 9pm. We headed down to this breakwater stone. On the way there, see some lightning flash over the skyline. We reach there about 9.30pm n the sky there was clear. Happily setup all our tackles n casted out. Haha, by the time we finish setting up, the sky started to change. Drizzle come n follow by gusty wind than down pour. No choice, umbralla n ground sheet was put to use. "P" was hiding under his ground sheet when suddenly his Abu 9000 reel alarm sound. Haha.. have to come out to strike. Fight half way see the fish jump out of the water surface n was missed hook. :complain: Haha.. all wet by now. Wow! this type of weather got fish bite? :confuse:  Work harder  By now the gusty wind has stop but still drizzling non stop. Half n hour later, "P" baitcaster rod has a bite. He strike n wind in this palm size Yellow stripe.

With this it gave us more confident. About one hour later, "P" found his baitcaster rod the line gone loose. He strike n yes it is a hook up. The fish was big n take out his 10lbs line. The fish seem to move toward the water surface on it run but didn't surface. Due to it hard fight n light line, the fighting was prolong. The fish is the final winner due to hook line break. Upon checking, about 4 inches of the hook line was badly damage. :bang:
Almost 2am, rain still didn't stop. "P" heard a short screech of alarm. He found out one of "C" rod the line gone loose n was flowing along with the current. He strike but got snag. :complain: After sometime trying to get off the snag, he pull the line broke. :bang:
Haha...what a wonderful raining night for us. Fully drench but we were smiling on our way home around 3am.

Barracuda

Date: 16-12-2005    Time: 8pm to 2am.

When I left home yesterday night around 7.30pm, the sky was full of rain cloud. Decided not to go bedok jetty which is my regular place on most friday night. Instead, I headed to a breakwater stone which nearby there is shelter for take cover if it rain. Tide is coming in n water is nice n clear. Casted out two rod with bottom feeder rig. Bait initially was not lasting but turn better when the water is higher. Around 10.30pm, I heard my Shimano 400S reel alarm sounded n the Loomis Big Game rod is bending. I rush forward to strike. Yes, heavy initially but it turn lighter n lighter when I reel in. Haha.. it was a small barracuda at the end of the line swimming toward my direction. Comfirm it's safe, I use my rod to lift it up. It has swallow my hook deep in the throat n can't be release.

It also turn out to be the only action of the night. After tide turn down, there is no current flow at all n I packup around 2am.

A Night with some action.

Date: 13-01-06

After so many days of raining, today finally there is sunny. I reach home quite late as have lots of work to do before the lunar new year holiday. By the time I am ready, it was already 8.30pm. Decided not to go to jetty as the squid season is over. Instead I headed to a breakwater stone at east coast. My last fishing here is about a year back. Tide was already mid way up n water was calm. Tonight the moon was also big n bright. I quickly casted out two rod. One with a short n the other with a long snood bottom feeder. Bait was frozen squid. Around 10.30pm, my loomis rod got the first bite. It was shaking n I pickup to strike. Something heavy but no struggle. Haha.. winding in a eel.

eek it was coiling onto my rig. Quickly unhook n release it after photo taking.
Half n hour later the same rod got another bite. It bend down once n bounce back. Strike n wind it a eel tail catfish(similang).

confuse The water could be still cold due to the past one week raining.
Passed this catfish to a malay angler nearby.
By now it was about 12am n the tide is about to full. I was checking on the rod when I saw my Daiwa long cast rod got a rattle. I decide to wind in to check when I notice a small barracuda was hook. After photo taking, I release it back.

After the tide turn down, no more action n I decide to packup as I was a bit tired after a busy working day. After all not so bad on tonight trip as at least have some action. deal

My trip 14-01-06 night.

Went back to the breakwater stone I fish on friday night. It was already 9pm when I reach there. Tide is coming in but water there is still shallow. Casted out two rods with a short n another long snood rig. Bait was some yesterday night left over squid n a packet of sarong which was given to me by a angler who can't finish it on saturday morning. As the water is still low, both rig all I used sarong as bait. Ten mimute after I casted out, I got the first bite. It was from my Daiwa rod n I wind in this silver bream.

After this there is no more action. The weather become more windy n water is abit choppy when the water is high. I fish until 1am n decide to packup so that can take some rest.

This morning went to BJt around 8.30am. I used two rod with cable car rig. Around 10am my loomis rod tip has a bend n the reel alarm sound. A queenie took my live bait n make a acrobatic jump. It manage to unhook before I reach my rod to strike. complain Fish for another hour before I call it off when the sun is too hot.
