Catch Report 9 and MY LINK to the WORLD of SHORE FISHING

Beside looking at my catch on our shoreline, let open up our eyes and see some wonderful catch on the shoreline around the world.

Some surprise catch at bedok jetty on 05 May 2006 night.

A total of 5 sizeable fishes was landed at bjt last night by some anglers there. As it was a pre holiday night, the place was crowded with anglers n rods. One thing difference is there is a non stop cool southen wind blowing endlessly. Enjoy the pictures:

A 7.5kg cobia. It is a rare catch there as from what I know the last cobia caught was about 1-2years back. THe bait was a tamban on a long snood bottom feeder rig.

A 3.5kg stingray was landed by another angler later n seen here with the cobia.

Another 2kg stingray was caught by a angler call Aman.(sorry no picture)

This 4.8kg barramundi was caught on a apollo rig with live prawn just below the jetty.

The same lucky angler caught this 2kg grouper later using the same method while targeting for kbl.

My friend caught this 3kg threadfin salmon on 07 October 2005 night with a fresh night herring (tuabak) as bait.

Small Barracuda landed at Bedok Jetty. 05-11-2005

Went to jetty yesterday night to search for baits until 5am this morning. This small barra took my squid bait on a long snood bottom feeder rig around 12.30am. My reel alarm was trigger by the strong pull. After that it swam right into my way causing me to worried thought a cobia is charging toward under the jetty. Haha..all because I was using a slow gear reel.

Big Puffer   18-02-2006

Caught this puffer about 2kg this early morning around 3am. It quietly took my bait of a small cuttle fish on a long snood bottom feeder rig n the line gone loose. It gave some strong struggle when about to surface. Too heavy to be lifted up by my Daiwa rod so I use hand to grab the leader instead. It was release back after photo taking.

My first fish on year 2006

Date: 02-01-2006    Time: 0800hrs to 1500hrs.   Rod: Loomis n Franklin Big Game 12ft.   Reel: Shimano Calcutta 400S     Line: 20lbs mono    Rig: Single hook short snood bottom feeder.    Bait: Cut squid.    Hook: Beak size 5/0.

Rain, rain n rain. Yesterday night can't fish all because of rain. Lucky this morning the weather was fine. Off I go around 8am. Went to the first spot but it was already occupied. No choice just drive along the east coast n look see look see. When come to this place, suddenly come to my mind that it have been more than ten year I didn't fish at this place. Haha... take alook there n it was not crowded. Decide to gave it a try. Tide was already coming in fast but current was smooth. Quickly two rod was casted out with single hook short snood bottom feeder rig. Baits was left over squid from friday night. Didn't bring much bait so a single squid was cut into two to save bait. Bait casted out was not lasting also.
It was my second round of bait changes when I was about to cast out the second rod, suddenly, zeer...zeer... zeerr....my shimano 400S calcutta reel was screaming. Quickle put down my second rod n pick up the first rod to strike. Yes, can feel the heavy weight at the end of the line. By now some malay anglers already gather around to see what fish is it. I told them it was a pari. The fish initially swim to my left. I quickly steer it to the right as this place the left side is quite hazard. Luckly the fish is not so big n I manage to bring it close without much effort. When it surface, it was a long tail brown spotted stingray about one over kilo. A malay angler help me to bring up this fish by grabing onto my rig body. After photo taking I gave him the fish to take home. Haha... finally landed my first fish for year 2006.
