A 2kg Threadfin

When you are lucky, fishes always find your bait.

Date: 19-03-2005  Time: 1930hrs to 0200hrs 20-03-2005.

Early this morning he just caught a 30kg shovel nose shark. It could be a shore caught record for the year 2005. Tonight we were here again for the hobby we share. Tide was coming up n the current flow were just nice. Manage to catch some squid as the surface wind has slow down tonight. Cut fresh squid were use as bait. Around 12am, Hong Penn inx2 groundcast rod tip has some rattle. He strike and its a hook up. When the fish was brought to the water surface, it was shinning gold colour under the jetty light. A beautiful golden snapper or gerut. To safely bringing up this fish, we use a drop landing net to haul it up instead of a gaff. Wow! 2kg is the exact weight. What a lucky guy he is.

White Spotted Stingray caught by my buddy.

Date: 03-09-04          Time:2030hrs to 0200hrs

It was very windy when I reach there. Tide was coming up and the strong south eastern wind has cause the sea to be very choppy. I set up my kerosene lamp hopefully to catch some squid as bait. But none was on sight. Only manage to catch two little cuttlefish. I used one as bait n casted out. My buddy Chuan come to join me around ten plus. I ask him to use the other cuttlefish as bait. He set up his tackle n cast out. Around 2245hrs, his Penn 113HL senator reel alarm scream. He pick up n strike. Hook on ! but the fish was very strong n was stripping out his line. I told him just to hang on by compress his rod n let the fish run. After a while it stop n Chuan started to retrieve his line. With a few tug of war later, It finally surface n my gaff was ready. I gaff into one of it wing n bring it up. It was a male white spotted stingray that tip the scale at 8.5kg. The whole battle lasted about ten minute. It was a wonderful  experience for Chuan as he complain of both hand tired later.
